Small-business center offers classes

The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center will offer marketing and QuickBooks classes in August.

Marketing: Thriving In A Soft Economy will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug.13. The cost is $99.

The course will take place at SunTrust Bank, 121 E.E. Butler Parkway. Nick Kastner, a Web developer with Red Clay Interactive, will be on hand working in collaboration with the center to discuss marketing techniques that include developing a marketing matrix, e-commerce, and learning to benefit from a strategic Web presence. Limited scholarships are available at point of online registration for the marketing class, compliments of SunTrust Bank.

The QuickBooks series will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 15 and 22 at the Gainesville office of the Small Business Development Center at 999 Chestnut St.

This two-part workshop provides participants with hands-on experience in the QuickBooks environment, including case studies that allow you to heighten your computer-assisted accounting skills through practical exercises. The cost is $199 for the series.
