Martin gets society's engineering certification
Bryan A. Martin has completed the requirements to be named an American Society for Quality-certified quality engineer. This certification comes after Martin scored high enough on an exam of engineering practices and principles.

The first American Society for Quality certification exam was given in 1968, and since then more than 160,000 have achieved this goal.

Carroll joins Northeast Georgia Physicians Group
Dr. Brent Carroll, D.O., has joined the Buford practice of Northeast Georgia Physicians Group.

Carroll earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Utah. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

He most recently practiced family medicine and provided urgent care at Physicians' Immediate Med in Douglasville.
"It's great to be back in Gwinnett County," says Dr. Carroll, who attended Gwinnett Technical College from 1998-1999 and has family in the area. "I've enjoyed watching the area grow over the years. Now I'm excited to grow my practice by providing individualized care."

Two physicians named officers of medical association chapter
Matthey T. Harris M.D. and Cacia V. Soares-Welch M.D. have been elected as officers of the Georgia chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists at the chapter's annual meeting in Atlanta.

Harris will serve a one-year term as secretary, while Soares-Welch will be a member of the board of directors.
Harris formerly served as the 2008 chapter treasurer.

Harris earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed her residency in internal medicine, her post-doctoral research fellowship in the lipid research program and her fellowship in endocrinology at Emory University School of Medicine.

Soares-Welch earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Both doctors are associated with Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Clinic.

AACE is a professional medical organization with more than 6,200 members in the United States and 92 other countries.

Glover named top dairy leader at conference
Scott Glover of Glo-Crest Dairy in Cleveland was named Outstanding Young Dairy Leader at the annual conference for Southeast Milk Inc. in Jacksonville, Fla.

Glover, who began working on the family dairy at age 9, established his own dairy in 2000. He began working with a nutritionist to get the most milk possible and now has a rolling heard average of over 24,000 pounds.

He and his wife, Jennifer, live in Clermont with their daughter.

UPS's Johnson completes 25 accident-free years
Lee Johnson of Gainesville, a tractor trailer driver for UPS, was recently recognized by the company for completing 25 years without an accident.

Johnson works out of the UPS facility located on Pleasantdale Road in Doraville and provides service in the Gainesville area.
UPS drivers log more than 2 billion miles a year on U.S. roads and average less than one accident per million miles driven.
