Holland joins Bates, Carter & Co. as senior accountant
Vicki Jolley Holland has joined the firm of Bates, Carter & Co. as a senior accountant in the small business services department.
Holland received her BA degree from Brenau University with a major in accounting and a minor in business. She earned her CPP certification in the spring of 2001 from the American Payroll Association. She has experience both in the private and public accounting sectors.
Holland began her accounting career in her father's firm, Childs, Jolley and Collett, CPAs. She is a member of Gainesville-Hall County Junior League and a member of First United Methodist Church of Gainesville.
A native of Atlanta, Holland has lived in Gainesville since 2001 with her husband, Andy, and daughter, Lauren.
Chattahoochee Bank announces advisory board
The Board of Directors of Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia has announced the appointment of a new Bank Advisory Board.
The members are:
Rives Carter, a retired bank chairman and farm equipment executive. After graduating from Georgia Tech, Carter served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He served as chairman of the board of the Bank of Anguilla and served on the advisory council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta from 1987 to 1989.
Broughton Cochran, owner and president of Sunrise Home Builders and Cochran Properties. A graduate of the University of Georgia with a BBA in finance, he is an active member of the Gainesville-Hall County Home Builders Association. He has also served with the Home Builders Association of Georgia and the National Association of Home Builders and was chairman of the National Rural Housing Council.
Denise Deal, executive director for Vision 2030, a community planning initiative sponsored by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and the HALLmark Initiative. A graduate of The University of Georgia, she received her MBA in business administration from Brenau University, where she was awarded the J. Alton Wingate Award for graduate student of the year.
Randy Pirkle is a partner with Cornerstone Investment Partners, a registered investment adviser. Earning both a BS and a masters degree at Georgia Tech, he was formerly the Managing Director of Citigroup Global Investment Bank and served as president of the Georgia Securities Association.
Rodney Smith M.D., a physician in the adult medicine practice group of The Longstreet Clinic, of which he is a founding member. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and a member of the Hall County Medical Society, the Medical Association of Georgia and the American Medical Association.
Jeff Terry M.D., a physician at North Georgia Diagnostic Clinic, specializing in internal medicine. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.
Philip Wilheit Jr., a partner with Wilheit Packaging, a full service packaging company with operations in several Southeastern states. He is a graduate of Mercer University with a degree in marketing and business management.
After graduation, he spent time in Germany and China working with Siemens Automotive and returned to the U.S. to earn a masters degree in International Business and Entrepreneurship from Georgia State University.
Law partner Tharpe receives VA accreditation
J. Kevin Tharpe, a partner in the law firm of Whelchel, Dunlap, Jarrard & Walker, recently received accreditation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to advise and assist veterans and their spouses with claims for benefits.
To receive this accreditation, Tharpe completed specialized course work and training in veterans benefits.
