Cobb joins Gainesville Neurology Group
Daniel L. Cobb, M.D., has joined the staff of Gainesville Neurology Group in the practice of adult neurology, EMG and EEGs.
Cobb received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he completed a medical internship and residency in adult neurology. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association and the Medical Association of Georgia.
While in training, Cobb was involved in biochemical analysis of soy isoflavones for Alzheimer's Disease prevention.
He and his wife, Sarah, and daughter, Hannah, reside in North Hall.
Rogers named chairman of Jackson EMC Foundation
Sherry Rogers, a member of the board of directors of the Jackson EMC Foundation since 2005, has been elected to a one-year term as board chairwoman.
A Chestnut Mountain resident, Rogers retired from AT&T and currently provides office support to the staff at Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church, where one of her functions is ministering to needy families and individuals.
Her community involvement includes serving meals at Good News at Noon, serving as mentor for two second-grade boys at Chestnut Mountain Elementary School and working with Habitat for Humanity of Hall County.
The Jackson EMC Foundation administers funds collected through Operation Round Up, a program that rounds participating Jackson EMC members' bills up to the next dollar amount. Those funds are used to award grants to community and charitable organizations, as well as individuals in need.
Butler back at Longstreet Cancer Center as nurse practitioner
Jennifer Butler has rejoined the staff of Longstreet Cancer Center as a family nurse practitioner.
Butler earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega. She previously worked for Longstreet Cancer Center for six years as an oncology nurse and also was a part-time clinical instructor at NGCSU. She completed her MSN/FNP earlier this year and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International. She also is an oncology certified nurse.
Longstreet Cancer Center employs four oncologists and two nurse practitioners. In mid-September, the center will move into its new 13,000-square-foot facility on the third floor at 705 Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville. Doctors also see patients at locations in Toccoa and Demorest.
Strickland joins Lanier Therapy in Motion
Lanier Therapy in Motion, a physical therapy practice, announces the appointment of John Strickland, licensed physical therapist, to their Flowery Branch location.
"Strickland will be an asset to the Flowery Branch community as one of the most talented therapists we've had in that area in a long time," said Jeremy Arkfeld, a partner in the company. Strickland has 14 years experience in physical therapy, most in the outpatient setting.
In his new role, Strickland will manage the office and provide Flowery Branch patients with rehabilitation for orthopedic, sports and spine injuries.
Cantrell joins proposed Forsyth County bank
North Metro Bank, a proposed Forsyth County bank in organization, has announced the hiring of Jeffery "Jeff" Cantrell as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
"We are excited to have Jeff come on board with North Metro Bank IO," said Rock Hunt, the bank's chief executive officer. "He is another important part of the outstanding team of bankers we are assembling in our mission to be the premier community bank in Forsyth County. Jeff brings with him knowledge of the area as well as the banking expertise to help lead our bank in the right direction."
Cantrell's banking career spans 24 years, starting in 1984 with First National Bank of Gainesville, where he progressed through the ranks as senior auditor, financial analysis manager and ultimately controller for the $1 billion bank. After Regions Bank acquired First National in 1995, Jeff advanced to regional financial officer and chief administration officer for approximately 300 branches and up to $26 billion in assets.
He graduated cum laude from North Georgia College and State University with a degree in accounting and finance. As a Certified Public Accountant, Cantrell has been a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs since 1993.
He and his wife have one child.
