Longstreet Clinic's King earns HR certification
Jullie G. King, director of human resources and community development at The Longstreet Clinic, P.C., recently earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.
Awarded by the HR Certification Institute, the certification signifies that King possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination that demonstrates a mastery of knowledge in the field.
"Certification as a human resource professional clearly demonstrates a commitment to personal excellence and to the human resource profession," said Mary Power, executive director of the institute.
To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience.
King is a graduate of Brenau University in Gainesville and the College of William and Mary. She has more than 20 years of experience in human resources and marketing.
The Longstreet Clinic operates offices in Gainesville, Oakwood, Buford, Braselton, Dahlonega, Baldwin and Toccoa.
Goodbar earns Jack Phelan Award from Edward Jones
Edward Jones financial adviser Desiree Goodbar of Gainesville recently received the Jack Phelan Award for her outstanding sales and service efforts over the past year.

Bates, Carter & Co.'s David receives certification as CPA
Dustin David has received his certified public accountant certification.
Dustin joined Bates, Carter, & Co., LLP in August 2007 as an intern, and in 2008 as full-time staff accountant in the firm's tax and audit department.
He earned his bachelors of science with a major in accounting in December 2006 from North Georgia College and State University. He received his 150 hours of credit needed to take the CPA exam in April of 2008.

Two in Forsyth Sheriff's Office staff become certified
Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jimmy Whitlock has completed all requirements to receive his Records Management Professional Certification, Sheriff Ted Paxton announced.
This certification is offered through the Carl Vinson Institute in conjunction with the University of Georgia.
Whitlock has been with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office for nine years and has been the supervisor over the Records and Evidence Sections of the Support Services Division for the past 3½ years.
Also, Lori Stedman has earned certification as a Property and Evidence Specialist.
Stedman has worked at the sheriff's office since April 2007. She is assigned to the Property & Evidence Unit, where her responsibilities include receipt, documentation, storage, disposition and accountability of property and evidence.
The CPES program is a professional certification that operates under the direction of the International Association for Property and Evidence, Inc. To earn the title, Stedman had to undergo a training session, meet a work experience requirement and complete an online certification test.
