Poultry leader Massey earns honor from Georgia Tech
Abit Massey, president emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Federation, has been awarded the Presidential Citation for Distinguished Service to Georgia Tech.

The award was presented by interim president and provost Gary B. Schuster at the 35th anniversary of the Georgia Tech Research Institute's Agricultural Technology Research Program.

The citation, in part, recognized Massey's efforts on behalf of university research and outreach and the role it can play in promoting economic development in the state.

The citation was one of only seven presented to date.

Conducted in cooperation with the Georgia Poultry Federation with funding from the Georgia Legislature, ATRP has been ranked as one of the Top 10 programs in the United States serving the meat and poultry industry.

The program is particularly noted for its history of developing innovative poultry processing technologies, and successfully taking them from the drawing board to commercial applications.

"The poultry industry is stronger because of the assistance of Georgia Tech and the Georgia Tech Research Institute and we are very proud of that relationship," said Massey.
