Shurley joins staff of Pro Therapy
Pro Therapy has announced the hiring of Justin Shurley as a physical therapist.
Shurley received his associate’s degree from Middle Georgia College and his bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College & State University. He also holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Georgia. He has experience working with outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine, hospital and nursing home patients. Along with providing physical therapy, Shurley will manage the new Pro Therapy clinic in Dawsonville.
Pro Therapy specializes in athletic training, hand, occupational and physical therapy from locations in Gainesville, Oakwood, Commerce, Cleveland, Young Harris, Braselton, Demorest and Dawsonville.
Truelove joins Avian Technology as controller
Julie Truelove has joined the Avian Technology team as company controller.
In her new role, she will manage all accounting and human resource functions within the company. Previously, Truelove worked in a logistics company as an accounting administrator.
A graduate of North Hall High School, Truelove has an associate’s degree in business administration and currently is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting from North Georgia College & State University.
Avian Technology is an American supplier and exporter of broiler hatching eggs, vaccines, and poultry and swine production equipment.
First Century Bank enters Athens market
First Century Bank, which is based in Gainesville, has opened an office in Athens.
Mike Harris, an Athens banker has been named president of the division and Athens native Mike McCurley serves as senior vice president.
"Both Mike Harris and Mike McCurley have strong ties to the Athens community and excellent banking experience between them," said William Blanton, chairman of the board of FCB. "These two community and banking leaders were natural choices to head up our Athens division."
FCB officially opened its Athens facilities on May 19. Harris said the bank will have physical offices early this month.
"Our mission is to bring a high-level of personal service and local decision making to Athens," said Harris, Athens market president and member of the board of directors for FCB. Our philosophy is the same; responsiveness to customers requests and innovative banking services.
As senior vice president, McCurley will specialize in commercial lending.
"Joining FCB to open its Athens division allows us to attract customers who want a bank that is responsive to their needs," McCurley said. "Personal service and partnerships with members of the community are what will continue to make us strong."
Harris, a graduate of Georgia State University with a BBA in Management, has more than 25 years in the banking business. His career began with the former C&S Bank, which was later acquired by Bank of America. In 1996, he came to Athens in private banking for Bank of America. From 1999 to 2004, he worked at Wachovia in private banking, small business and commercial lending, later serving as city president for the bank’s Monroe, Loganville and Walton County offices. He became senior vice president of Bank of Athens and was one of the bank’s founders.
An Athens native, McCurley graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in economics. He began his 23 years in banking with Trust Company Bank, which later became SunTrust, where he worked for 17 years. He then worked at a community bank in Athens for three years before becoming part of the leadership team of Bank of Athens two years ago.
FCB also has locations in Gainesville and Oakwood.
Fritchey named spa director at Natural Body Spa & Shop
Natural Body Spa & Shop announces the appointment of Eva Fritchey as spa director of the company’s new location at The Avenue Forsyth in Cumming. The spa, which opened in May, is the 11th location in the state for the Atlanta-based company.
In her new role, Fritchey oversees the day-to-day operations of Natural Body Spa & Shop at The Avenue Forsyth and manages all aspects of the spa and retail shop, including business growth, inventory control, community events, and personnel management and development.
Prior to joining Natural Body, Fritchey served in various retail management positions.
