CPA Buice participates in leadership program

Leslie Buice, CPA, of Gibson Dental Designs, participated in the 2007 Leadership Academy sponsored by the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. The GSCPA identified 22 members who would be the future leaders of the organization.

The leadership academy is a high quality, customized program based on assessment data that fosters individual self-reflection and serves as a tool to encourage personal leadership development. It enables future leaders to develop new skills to serve more effectively in the organization, their workplaces, and their community. This program, made up of four working sessions, positions participants to accept responsibility as business and organization leaders through improved critical thinking, enhanced communication, and fostering team-building skills. The Georgia Society of CPAs has 11,000 members in public accounting, industry, government and education.

Grindle, pediatric nurse, joins The Longstreet Clinic

Christy L. Grindle, a pediatric nurse practitioner, has joined the Center for Pediatrics at The Longstreet Clinic.

Grindle is a 1997 graduate of Brenau University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She received her master’s degree in 2007 from Georgia State University. From 1997 to 2006, Grindle worked as a staff nurse at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, including more than seven years in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She also has worked as a staff nurse in the nursery at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Grindle is licensed as a registered nurse and a pediatric nurse practitioner, and is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Georgia Chapter and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Rushton & Co.’s Whitmire obtains CPA certification

Tiffany Whitmire, an associate with Rushton & Co., has obtained her CPA certification.

To obtain CPA certification, applicants must complete 150 semester hours of education and pass an extensive certified public accountant exam.

As an associate with Rushton & Co., Whitmire’s responsibilities include monthly write-up and tax preparation for clients. A graduate of North Georgia College & State University, she is a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society and Delta Mu Delta National Business Honor Society.

Milby joins law firm Stewart Melvin & Frost

Meredith M. Milby, a native of Atlanta, has joined Stewart Melvin & Frost as an associate attorney, concentrating her practice in the areas of wills and trusts, tax planning and tax disputes.

She is a third-generation attorney and is authorized to practice law in Georgia and Florida.

Milby comes to Stewart Melvin & Frost from a firm in West Palm Beach, Fla. She earned her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. She received her master of law in taxation from the New York University School of Law.

Lampton to speak at Canadian conference

Bill Lampton, president of Championship Communication in Gainesville, has been selected to give the keynote speech for the British Columbia Legal Management Association in Whistler, B.C., Canada, on Oct. 24. Following his morning keynote address, Lampton will direct an afternoon breakout session on creating a strong foundation for internal and external communication.

Since launching his company in 1997, Lampton has spoken, directed seminars, and provided speech coaching for companies and organizations including Gillette, Duracell, the Missouri Bar, University of Georgia Athletic Association, Community Bankers Association of Georgia and Krystal Co. He is the author of the book, "The Complete Communicator: Change Your Communication, Change Your Life!"
