Karl Kline joins The Longstreet Clinic as a physician assistant

The Longstreet Clinic has announced that Karl J. Kline, PA-C, has joined Dr. Holmes Marchman in the practice of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Kline is a 1987 graduate of Emory University, where he received his physician assistant certificate. He has 20 years of experience as a licensed physician assistant, and is a former U.S. Navy hospital corpsman.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation is a medical specialty that began in the 1930s to treat musculoskeletal and neurological problems.

Marchman and the staff work closely with physical therapists, recreation therapists, speech pathologists and referring physicians to diagnose problems and prescribe treatment to maximize functional outcomes of patients.

 

Ivey named vice president of The Fudgery

Arlene Ivey has been named vice president for administration and corporate secretary for The Fudgery, a Gainesville-based chain of fudge shops.

Ivey, who joined the company 20 years ago as an accounting assistant, held similar positions with Chambers Lumber Co. and the ophthalmology practice of North Georgia Eye Clinic.

She attended North Georgia Technical College, Lanier Technical College and Gainesville State College.

"During her 20 years of employment, Ms. Ivey has repeatedly been given positions of increased responsibility and has risen to the highest level of achievement at each instance," said A.C. Marshall, the company founder.

Ivey and her husband, Harold, live in Banks County.

 

Hoffman gets top honors from Prudential Georgia

Brent Hoffman of Prudential Georgia Realty in Gainesville was honored as the top sales agent within the company’s 24 offices and 1,400 agents during their annual meeting in Atlanta.

He also earned recognition as the top commercial real estate agent in the company. Hoffman recorded a 55 percent increase in commercial sales.

 

Senate recognizes Health Access Initiative, Good News Clinics

The Georgia State Senate has commended Health Access Initiative and Good News Clinics, both of Gainesville, for excellence in providing health care to uninsured and indigent Hall County citizens through donated physician and staff services and time.

The resolution by Sen. Lee Hawkins, R-Gainesville, cites both agencies as outstanding contributors to the health and well being of the citizens of Hall County, recognizing the 164 physicians and 22 specialists at Health Access Initiative and the 43 dentists and 31 physicians at Good News Clinics.

The resolutions also cited physicians for providing medical care to more than 1,200 patients valued at $4.3 million, and Good News Clinics for giving service to more than 15,000 medical and dental patients and providing 62,000 free prescriptions in 2007 at a value of $7.6 million.
