The Longstreet Clinic has announced that Daniel A. Mullis, M.D., has joined the Department of General Surgery.

A 1995 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Mullis received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1999. He completed his internship at Atlanta Medical Center before moving to New Orleans for his general surgery residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation from 2001 to 2004. He was chief resident in general surgery at Ochsner in 2003-2004. Prior to joining The Longstreet Clinic, Mullis was in private practice in South Carolina.

"Joining The Longstreet Clinic will allow me to practice with a group of caring and professional surgeons and nursing staff to provide state-of-the-art surgical services," Mullis said.

He is a member of the Southeastern Surgical Congress, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. A native of Rome, Mullis and his wife, Casey, have one daughter, Alyssa.

Thomas M. Hensley Jr., executive vice president and chief financial officer of Fieldale Farms Corp. in Baldwin, was elected secretary-treasurer of the National Chicken Council at the recent board of directors meeting. Hensley replaces the late O.B. Goolsby Jr. of Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. He has served on the NCC board since October 2001 and has worked for Fieldale Farms for 32 years.

Hensley is a member of the board of directors of Fieldale Farms. He has been involved in a wide variety of civic, business and professional organizations, including Salvation Army and the United Way.

Also at the board meeting, two new representatives were elected from Tyson Foods: Archie Schaffer, senior vice president for external relations, and Donnie Smith, group vice president for consumer products. In addition, the board named Clint Rivers, chief operating officer of Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., and Bernard Leonard, group vice president of the food service group of Tyson Foods, to fill two openings on the Executive Committee.

The National Chicken Council represents integrated chicken producer-processors, the companies that produce, process and market chickens. Member companies of NCC account for approximately 95 percent of the chicken sold in the United States.

Hotel Equities has named Rosa Guerra the general manager for the Hampton Inn Mall of Georgia. Guerra has responsibility for overseeing all financial and management operations at the hotel including hiring employees, team building and meeting budget goals.

With more than 10 years in the hospitality industry, Guerra began her career at Hilton’s Caesar Park Resort in Cancun, Mexico. She has been with Hotel Equities for the past eight years, including positions as front desk agent, operations supervisor and night auditor. Most recently she served as operations manager at the Hampton Inn-Stone Mountain.

A graduate of the University of Nayarit in Mexico, Guerra earned a degree in tourism. She lives with her husband, Carlos, and their son, Justin, in Flowery Branch.

Cochran Brothers Electric has announced the addition of Bill Hosay as director of their automation department.

Hosay has experience in electrical and electronic engineering as well as automated manufacturing. He served as the district software and hardware product manager for Englewood Electric for the past 10 years.

Ruppert Nurseries, a commercial landscape company, has named Mike Ward of Gainesville as the recipient of its annual achievement award.

The award, one of the company’s two top honors, recognizes the employee who has made a significant contribution in 2007 through outstanding job execution and high-quality results. Ward, a senior estimator with the Georgia Landscape Installation branch, has been with Ruppert for 12 years and was recognized for his contributions to the branch as a senior estimator and for his efforts in researching, selecting, transitioning and implementing new bid software.
