A Buford woman was killed by an allegedly drunken driver Sunday night at Lanier Islands Parkway/Ga. 347 and McEver Road in South Hall.

Carol Conrad, 72, was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Herbert Kegley, 78, who was traveling west on Ga. 347 at the time of the 8:21 p.m. wreck.

David Treadwell, 57, of Lilburn, was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck east on Ga. 347 when he turned left to go north on McEver Road.

As he made the turn, he pulled in front of Kegley’s 2004 Chevrolet Impala, causing a collision, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

A third vehicle traveling behind the Impala also was involved in the collision.

Kegley and Conrad were both taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Kegley was treated and released, but Conrad later died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.

Treadwell, who wasn’t injured in the wreck, was arrested without incident and taken to the Hall County Jail, a sheriff's office press release states.

He was charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, DUI, failure to yield the right of way, driving with a suspended/canceled registration and no proof of insurance.
