Buford: Student killed in hunting accident

Funeral services are Wednesday for a Mill Creek High School freshman killed in a hunting accident during the holiday weekend. Zach Gibson was shot accidentally Friday while hunting with family in Pine Mountain, according to Flanigan Funeral Home and Crematory in Buford. Mill Creek High counselors visited Gibson’s classes Monday to talk with students about his death, Gwinnett County Public Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana said. A moment of silence was set for 7:23 a.m. today, when Principal Jim Markham will announce visitation and funeral arrangements. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ivy Creek Baptist Church, 2500 Ivy Creek Road N.E., Buford.

Gibson lived in Buford, played baseball at Bogan Park and attended Ivy Creek Baptist Church.
