The body of a Buford man was pulled from Lake Lanier Wednesday night.

Simon Joseph Peters, 37, was reported missing by his family when he didn’t return home Wednesday morning after fishing alone Tuesday night near Lazy Days Marina off Lanier Islands Parkway, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office reported.

His vehicle was found near the marina and personal items were found on a dock. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office dive team recovered his body near the dock. The water there was about 7 feet deep. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources also helped.

The body has been sent to the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Foul play is not suspected, but the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is working the case.

Deputy Stephen Wilbanks said there were no obvious signs of trauma.
