The Brenau University Learning and Leisure Institute will host a political forum open to the public Saturday featuring Democratic and Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, North Georgia posts in the U.S. House of Representatives and candidates for the Georgia General Assembly.

Surrogates for Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, as well as candidates for the Georgia Public Service Commission, also have been invited to participate in the forum.

Radio talk show host and TV pundit Martha Zoller will moderate the 30-minute segments allocated to each office.

Time permitting, candidates may answer audience questions.

The forum begins at 9 a.m. at the Thurmond McRae Auditorium adjacent to the Brenau Trustee Library on Academy Street on the Brenau Gainesville campus. Depending on candidate participation, the event is expected to conclude at about 1 p.m.
