Braselton woman killed, child and 3 adults injured in South Hall wreck

A Braselton woman was killed and her 5-year-old injured in a South Hall wreck Thursday evening, according to authorities. Three others also were injured.

Melissa Speer, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene on Union Church Road, according to Georgia State Patrol.

Speer’s 5-year-old son was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Egleston with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The incident happened around 5:22 p.m. near Amber Cove Way.

Authorities said Speer was heading southbound in a Toyota Prius on Union Church Road when she “crossed the centerline and struck a northbound Ford truck” driven by Sean Heenan, 30, of Dacula.

Heenan and passengers Jackies Waters, 53, and Philip Watkins, 21, both of Lula, were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.

No charges will be filed, according to state patrol.
