Harris Blackwood of Gainesville has been named to a fourth term on the board of directors of the Governor’s Highway Safety Association.

The association is a Washington-based organization that provides leadership and advocacy for traffic safety programs in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

“Harris Blackwood has been a tremendous asset to GHSA,” said Chairman Kendell Poole of Tennessee. “I am thrilled that he has been reappointed as the chair of Strategic Communications. His professionalism and passion for traffic safety are evident in his contributions to the association.”

Blackwood also represents his peers on the National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.

In addition to his primary role as director of the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, he is chairman of the Georgia Drivers Education Commission and is on the boards of the TIME Task Force and Operation Lifesaver.
