Georgia State Patrol is investigating a crash that resulted in serious injury to a bicycle rider on Bryant Quarter Road near Cobb Griffin on Sunday.

GSP said in an e-mail that the bicycle rider, whose identity has not been released, was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital with a head injury.

According to GSP, the bicyclist was traveling northbound on Bryant Quarter Road, and a 1994 Ford Escort being drive by Michael Marsingill, 22, of Pendergrass approached him from behind. Marsingill moved “completely” into the southbound lane to pass the bicyclist in a passing zone, but the bicyclist traveled into the southbound lane and hit the Ford in the right passenger side door.

GSP also said, “there were no contributing actions on the part of Michael Marsingill.”
