The Banks County Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a groundbreaking for its Windmill Park Sports Complex at 10 a.m. July 14.

The groundbreaking will be at the department’s Field 4 entrance.

The project will include four new baseball fields, three batting cages and paved walking trails behind the county’s current baseball fields at 607 Thompson St. in Homer.

The Windmill Park Sports Complex is phase 1 of a larger project for the area, where Banks County has more than 800 acres of land.

Scroggs and Grizzel Contracting of Gainesville was awarded the project with a low bid of $3.2 million.
