Police investigate suspicious package at Braselton business

Braselton Police investigated a suspicious package found at Carter’s Distribution Center Thursday, Oct. 17.

The explosive ordnance disposal team was on scene at the Braselton Parkway business around 8:30 a.m. Thursday regarding an unfamiliar package from someone known to the business.

“It was an ex-employee that they weren’t sure of, and because of that, we took the necessary precaution to make sure it wasn’t anything hazardous,” Braselton Police Maj. Michael Steffman said.

The package did not pose a threat, but police are still investigating the case. Steffman did not release much else regarding the case.

“It was something that pertained to the person it was supposed to be sent to, but it wasn’t anything hazardous … The case is still under investigation, so we’re still looking into all the aspects of it, so I can’t release a whole lot,” he said.

Police left the scene around 9:45 a.m., Steffman said.
