Update: A Gainesville man was charged in the Saturday, Aug. 6, shooting on Thompson Bridge Road near the Marathon gas station, according to authorities.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Shimar Darnell Bolton, 23, was the suspect in the Saturday shooting that sent a 25-year-old man to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

According to the Hall County Jail, Bolton was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, shooting toward a public roadway and possession of a gun during the commission of a crime.

Lt. Kevin Holbrook said the victim was shot three times and was at last check in stable condition.

He did not have information on a motive or how many shots were fired.



Gainesville Police are on the scene of a shooting at the Thompson Bridge Road Marathon station where they say one man was shot.

The victim was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in stable condition, according to the police. 

Police said in a social media post that one person of interest was in custody. 

The investigation is active and traffic is being affected in the area, police said.
