A Hall County employee vehicle was stolen after the employee left the keys in the car, but authorities recovered the vehicle roughly six hours later.

The white Ford sedan with “Probation Services” decals was reported stolen before 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 on Weeping Willow Drive in Gainesville.

“The Hall County employee was inside this address for (approximately) 10 minutes and left the keys in the vehicle. When the employee came outside, it was missing,” Gainesville Police Cpl. Jessica Van said.

Van said it was unknown why the employee was in the area.

The vehicle and keys were recovered around 6:30 p.m. in Flowery Branch by Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

The case is still under investigation.
