One person dies in South Hall home fire, victim identified
11312019 fire

One person died in a fire reported just before 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at a home in South Hall.

Hall County Fire Services division chief Zach Brackett said Sunday the victim was Kimberly Carter, 61, of Alpharetta.

When firefighters arrived at the home in the 6200 block of Old Stringer Road, they found a 3,500-square-foot, two-story home on a basement engulfed in flames on all levels, Brackett said.

The owners were in Florida for the holidays and were returning, Brackett said Saturday.

“She was there just watching the house, taking care of the dogs, that kind of stuff,” Brackett said, as she was described as a longtime family friend.

Brackett said it would likely take a while to determine the cause of the fire due to the extensive damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
