Four local families are getting help from the Hall County 911 Communications in a different way this Christmas.

The 911 center staff raised around $1,000 in its inaugural Secret Santa Project, which will give presents to 14 children.

The children, ranging in age between 1 and 17, got everything on a wish list given to the 911 center staff. Gift cards were given to the older children, said 911 Director Gail Lane in a press release.

Local businesses All Tune and Lube Total Car Care also contributed.

The program is expected to continue in future years, Lane said.

The sheriff’s office is holding its Shop with a Cop at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Gainesville Target, 514 Shallowford Road NW.
