A Gainesville man was accused of possessing a video “of a child being sexually abused by an adult,” according to authorities.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the case started as a cyber tip from the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, of which the sheriff’s office is a member.
Investigators obtained a warrant for Sergio Albarran, 29, Thursday, Aug. 8.
“Investigators determined that Albarran knowingly possessed a video of a child being sexually abused by an adult. Several electronic devices, seized from Albarran’s residence during the execution of the warrant, are being processed by law enforcement,” Booth wrote in a news release.
Booth did not respond to a question from The Times on whether this case was connected to any other recent cases.
Albarran was charged with sexual exploitation of children. He was booked in to the Hall County Jail and has no bond set.
Albarran also has an immigration hold.
