A man under house arrest in Hall County was found in an open field Friday, April 6, in White County and charged with murder after his father’s death.
Daniel Wallis Burchardt, 22, was charged with murder, felony escape, and two Superior Court probation warrants. He was transported to the Hall County Jail.
Burchardt had an ankle monitor for his house arrest for possession of a synthetic cannabinoids, possession of a drug-related object, aggravated assault and burglary.
Deputies came to Looper Lake Road when “it was determined that Burchardt’s ankle monitor had been tampered with.”
“Upon arriving at the residence (Friday morning), Daniel Wallis Burchardt was not there. His father, Tony Burchardt, was found deceased and Daniel W. Burchardt’s ankle monitor was located at the scene,” Lt. Scott Ware wrote in a news release.
Investigators discovered Tony Burchardt died from blunt force trauma, and the victim’s car was missing.
A lookout was posted for Daniel Burchardt, which was called off Friday afternoon.
“Deputies with the White County Sheriff’s Office located and subsequently arrested Daniel Burchardt in an open field off of Post Road in White County,” Ware wrote.
No further information was released by the sheriff’s office.
