Authorities battle multiple fires across county as 4 displaced from home

Hall County firefighters battle a blaze Tuesday afternoon on the side of Interstate 985 near mile marker 23.

Hall County and Gainesville authorities responded to a flurry of fires after 2 p.m. Tuesday, one of which displaced four people from their singlewide mobile home.

No injuries were reported in any of the fires.

A fire reported about 2:25 p.m. on Floyd Road in Barnes Mobile Home Park in central Hall displaced three adults and a child. Hall County Fire Services Capt. Zachary Brackett said authorities arrived to find heavy black smoke and flames showing before an aggressive interior attack extinguished the fire. That fire’s cause isn’t yet known, Brackett said.

Both Hall and Gainesville firefighters, plus the Georgia Forestry Commission responded to a blaze near mile marker 23 on Interstate 985 that had 5-6 acres on fire on both sides of I-985.

A brush fire on Indian Circle off Shirley Road in North Hall extend to the back deck of one of the homes in the area. It covered about about half an acre, part of which was U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property.

Firefighters also responded to an afternoon brush fire on Whiporwill Drive off Browns Bridge Road.
