Mike Adcock, an assistant principal at Johnson High School, came out of a successful surgery Friday in which doctors repaired fractures of his upper and lower left leg, said Hall County schools spokesman Gordon Higgins.

On Aug. 8, Adcock was driving to Johnson High School when he was involved in a major one-car wreck at 6 a.m. on Poplar Springs Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Adcock has remained in the intensive care unit at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and is recovering from the amputation of his right leg, as well as a broken jaw, and broken pelvis and rib that contributed to a collapsed lung.

Higgins said Adcock’s next step on the long road to recovery is jaw surgery, which will occur after Adcock recovers from the leg surgery.

Linda Adcock, Mike Adcock’s wife, said she is very grateful for the outpouring of support the community has showed for her husband and their family.
