The University of North Georgia started its first full year Monday as a consolidated institution. The university formed last year as the merging of the former North Georgia College & State University and Gainesville State College and combined has about 15,000 students, making it the state’s seventh-largest public university, according to the university’s website. Campuses include one in Oakwood, called the Gainesville campus to acknowledge the Gainesville State history, as well as in Dahlonega, Cumming and Watkinsville.
