A brighter journey: New LED street lighting installed in Gainesville

Crews with Georgia Power installed a new LED light Wednesday at Yonah and Enota avenues in Gainesville.

The utility company has begun converting roadway lighting with the new brighter and more energy-efficient LED lighting, specifically in areas along Thompson Bridge Road.

Eventually a total of 1,799 lights throughout Gainesville will be replaced. Another 850 lights will be converted in Hall County.

“We are happy to have a brighter illumination around our campus,” said Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy Principal Wesley Roach. “The new lights should provide greater security for Enota Avenue, including the area around the school.”
