An 8-year-old boy was bitten in the face by a dog Monday afternoon after playing in a South Hall garage, according to authorities.
Authorities responded around 5 p.m. Monday, June 10, to the 3000 block of Southchase Drive in Gainesville.
“Once our medics assessed the child, (they) determined he needed to be flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston,” Hall County Fire Services Capt. Zachary Brackett said.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the child’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
“Hall County Animal Control and Enforcement also responded and took custody of the dog, which had been tethered by residents after the incident,” Booth wrote in a news release.
Describing the dog as a labrador-mix, Hall County Animal Control Assistant Director David Jones said the animal was in custody for the 10-day bite quarantine.
Authorities did not release any further information on the dog or child.
