Two adults were displaced after a fire Wednesday night at a duplex in North Hall.

Hall County Fire Services was called to the scene just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2900 block of Bridge Drive off C Rogers Road.

The fire was affecting about a quarter of the 1,800-square-foot structure when firefighters arrived.

The American Red Cross was contacted to help the residents with lodging.

Cold weather affected operations “significantly,” Capt. Zachary Brackett said Thursday morning. The temperature at the time was 18.

“Our pumps in the fire trucks require us to continually flow or circulate water so they will not freeze, which can end up making road conditions around the scene worse,” Brackett said, noting that Hall County’s road maintenance division was called to spread materials in the area around the scene.

Firefighters face the threat of slipping and tasks are more difficult, he said.

Fire Services has not yet determined the cause of the fire.
