Two residents escaped an early morning house fire without injury south of Gainesville.
Hall County firefighters responded to the call around 3:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Titshaw Drive. They found smoke coming from the attic of the 1,800-square-foot home. The fire was put out quickly with help from Gainesville fire crews.
Fire officials credit the smoke alarm with awakening the two men who lived in the home. They got out safely and are staying with family.
The fire appears electrical in nature, starting near a ceiling fan, according to officials. Damage was confined to the kitchen and attic and is estimated to be about $35,000.
