Two people were killed in a two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on Interstate 985.

The wreck occurred just before 2 p.m. on I-985 just past the I-85 split, according to Gwinnett police.

Two people died at the scene and a third, the driver of the second vehicle, was transported with injuries.

Gwinnett Police were not able to release the identification of the victims pending next of kin.

The accident backed up traffic on I-85 south into Gwinnett County for the better part of two hours before it was cleared.
