A Murrayville man died in a one-vehicle wreck in extreme northwest Hall County near the Lumpkin County line.

The Georgia State Patrol, called to Old Dahlonega Highway at Old Whelchel Road at 6:49 a.m. Thursday, determined that Patrick Parks, 42, was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup when the vehicle apparently left the roadway in a curve.

The pickup hit several trees, a fence and another tree before coming to a stop, according to the state patrol.

The time of the wreck isn’t known, officials said.

In another wreck Wednesday morning in Gainesville, a woman was critically injured.

The Gainesville Police Department is looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the accident at Pearl Nix and Queen City parkways.

Cpl. Kevin Holbrook, spokesman with the police, said the call came in at 9:48 a.m. and the wreck involved a silver Chevrolet Silverado and a maroon Toyota Tacoma. The woman was still in critical condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Holbrook said police were seeking witnesses due to the complexity of the accident and are hopeful people will step forward since the intersection and time of day likely mean there are a number of witnesses.
