A person trying to escape from a Thornbush Drive house fire sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital, according to authorities.

Hall County Fire Services responded to the 3100 block of Thornbush Drive in a subdivision off of Gaines Mill Road, where a 1,200-square-foot home was on fire.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze before extinguishing it and a subsequent fire in the nearby woods.

“The occupant was transported for injuries sustained in a fall that occurred after exiting the home,” Capt. Zachary Brackett wrote in an email.

The damage is estimated at $80,000, and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
