Teresa Reneé Patterson and Joel Devaney Leonard were united in marriage at 5:45 p.m. Oct. 13, 2007, at Christ United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill, N.C. The bride is the daughter of Roger and Faith Patterson of Chapel Hill. The groom is the son of Christopher Leonard and Donna Devaney, both of Greensboro, N.C.
The Rev. Donna Banks performed the ceremony. Pianist Roger Searles and violinist Callie Jamar presented a program of wedding music.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s friend Rachael Hansen of Chapel Hill was matron of honor. The bride’s sister Beth Patterson of Chapel Hill was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friend Alissa Weinberger of Asheville, N.C., and the bride’s cousin Katie Rooks of Gainesville. The groom’s cousin Grace Kilmartin of Greensboro was the flower girl.
The groom’s brothers Jimmy and Michael Leonard, both of Greensboro, were the best men. Groomsmen were the groom’s friends Stephen Porter and Tripp Pfaff, both of Greensboro. Christopher Leonard, Greggory Abell and Mathew Abell were ushers. Katie Kilmartin and Patrick Rooks were greeters. Diane Abell was a reader. Cathy Hall was the wedding coordinator.
The bride wore a sixpence encased in fabric from her paternal grandmother’s wedding gown. She carried a handkerchief that was made by her great-grandmother and also carried by her paternal grandmother at her wedding.
The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal party in Greensboro on the eve of the wedding.
The bride’s parents gave a reception at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill following the ceremony. Following a wedding trip to Holden Beach, N.C., the couple resides in Greensboro.
