Anna Marie Musselwhite and Joseph William Owen were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. June 8, 2013, at Figure Eight Island in Wilmington, N.C. The bride is the daughter of Melissa Matthews Musselwhite, formerly of Gainesville, and William Edward Musselwhite Jr. of Lumberton, N.C. She is the granddaughter of John and Madge Harper of Gainesville and the late Charles Matthews. The groom is the son of Becky Burbage Owen and Joseph Leach Owen of Wilmington, N.C. He is the grandson of Jim and Janet Burbage of Naples, Fla.

The Rev. Bob Bauman performed the ceremony. Violinist Beverly Andrews and a string quartet presented a program of wedding music. Cocktail hour music was presented by Ethan Hansen, and the Strictly Bizzness Band presented music for the reception.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s sister Kathryn Musselwhite of Wrightsville Beach, N.C., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s cousins Julia Matthews of Gainesville, Elizabeth Derrick of Atlanta, Caroline Derrick of Atlanta, and Carey Musselwhite of Raleigh, N.C., the groom’s sisters Brooke Owen Hooks of Wilmington, N.C., and Joanna Hooks of Wilmington, N.C., and the bride’s friends Kathryn Morketter of Fayetteville, N.C., Margaret Matteson of Charleston, S.C., Jordan Normann of Sanford, N.C., Sarah Butler of Wilmington, N.C., and Abby Hill of Kinston, N.C. The bride’s niece Marie Matthews of Gainesville was a junior bridesmaid. The groom’s niece Maggie Owen of Wilmington, N.C., was the flower girl.

The groom’s father was the best man. Groomsmen were the bride’s brother Will Musselwhite of Lumberton, N.C., the groom’s brother-in-law Borden Hooks of Wilmington, N.C., the groom’s cousin Thomas Owen of Charlotte, N.C., and the groom’s friends Tyler Kirby of Durham, N.C., Isaac Morton of Holly Springs, N.C., Jennings Rose of Wilmington, N.C., Kaleb Wingate of Durham, N.C., Carlton Wells of Wilmington, N.C., Murphy Paderick of Boston, Mass., and Trey Means of Greenville, N.C. The bride’s nephew Henry Matthews of Gainesville was a junior groomsman. The groom’s nephew Borden Hooks IV of Wilmington, N.C., was the ring bearer.

Salt Harbor Designs coordinated the wedding. Beth Walters and Casey Makovy distributed the programs.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C., on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception at Figure Eight Island in Wilmington, N.C., following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to Italy, the couple reside in Chapel Hill, N.C.
