Margaret and Jared Blakey

Miss Margaret Ellen Lane and Lt. Jared Thomas Churchill Blakey were united in marriage at 7 p.m. July 11, 2009, at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Joseph Conway Lane of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Churchill Blakey Jr. of Marietta.

The Rev. Thomas Richard Smiley performed the ceremony. Pianists Miss Julie Ann Blakey and Mr. William Brent Cochran, vocalists Miss Mary Susan Herrington and Mr. William Christopher Davidson, and saxophonist Mr. Robert B. Morgan presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her parents. The bride's sister Miss Laura Jacquelyn Lane of Gainesville was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the groom's sister Miss Catherine Therese Blakey of Marietta; the bride's friend Mrs. Joy Thurman Bramblett of Hartwell; the groom's sister Mrs. Elizabeth Blakey Cheer of Atlanta; the bride's friends Mrs. Brittany Malcom Duvall of Madison, Miss Mary Susan Herrington of Gainesville and Mrs. Britney Cochran LeBlanc of Canton; the bride's cousins Miss Jennifer Lee Martin and Miss Mary Catherine Martin, both of Gainesville; and the bride's friends Miss Brooke Erin Smith and Miss Alli Elizabeth Strong, both of Gainesville. The bride's cousins Miss Amy Grace Pardue and Miss Amanda Kate Presley, both of Gainesville, were the flower girls.

The groom's father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's cousin Mr. Justin Reed Blakey of Garden City; the groom's friend Lt. Nicholas Norwood Bland of Boston; the groom's brother-in-law Mr. Nicholas Peter Cheer of Atlanta; and the groom's friends Mr. Jared Edward Haber of Athens, Lt. Patrick Joseph Lavin of Las Cruces, N.M., Lt. Matthew Schaefer Leck of White Sands, N.M., Mr. Michael Frank Cantwell Moreland of Atlanta and Mr. Carl Terrell Ussing of Alpharetta. Greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Butler Goforth and Mr. Samuel Felton Smith. Program attendants were Miss Shanna Leeann Cochran and Miss Julie Ann Blakey.

Mr. William Christopher Davidson was the wedding coordinator.

The bride carried a handkerchief from her maternal grandmother, a Bible from her paternal great-grandmother and great aunt and wore a bracelet borrowed from her maternal aunt.

The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville on the eve of the wedding.

The bride's parents gave a reception at the Chattahoochee Country Club following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to Turks and Caicos, the couple reside in White Sands, N.M.
