Kelli Kirkland and Phillip Dean Mayfield II were united in marriage at 3 p.m. May 10, 2008, at Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church in Flowery Branch. The bride is the daughter of Faye Kirkland of Gainesville and Jimmy Kirkland of Blairsville. The groom is the son of Phillip D. and Donna Mayfield of Union, S.C.
The Rev. John S. Batusic and the Rev. Andy E. Lewis performed the ceremony. Pianist Susan Maclagan, pianist and vocalist Laura Story Elvington, vocalist and guitarist Trey Sullivan and violinist Jill Zimmerman presented a program of wedding music.
The bride was presented in marriage by her parents. The bride's friend Katie Blair Hammond of Braselton was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's friends Rachel Pelander of San Francisco, Laura Elvington of Alpharetta, Meredith Richie of Virginia, Francis Lightcap of Spartanburg, S.C., Wendy Rohr of Greenville, S.C.; the groom's sister Misty Mayfield Babic of Tucker; and the bride's friend Angie Mullins of Ohio. The bride's goddaughter Lucy Kirkland Lightcap of Spartanburg was the flower girl.
The groom's friend Matthew Fuller of Mills River, N.C., was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's friend Shane Fast of Spartanburg; the bride's brother Justin Kirkland of Gainesville; the groom's friends Marty Smith of Charleston, S.C., Devin Wilson of Cullowhee, N.C., Jamie Lightcap of Spartansburg, John Tilley of Washington, D.C., Brad Armstrong of Greenville, and Anderson Ernst of Sylva, N.C.
Laurah Wallis and Carrie Vickery were the wedding coordinators. Victoria Rock and Lauren Gasque assisted. Tanya Frantz kept the bride's book.
The bride carried a sixpence in her shoe belonging to the Blair family.
The groom's family gave a rehearsal dinner at Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church on the eve of the wedding.
The bride's parents gave a reception at Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club in Flowery Branch following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to Jackson Hole, Wyo., the couple reside in St. Louis.
