Ashley Renée Hooper and Hugh Colby Cornelson were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Oct. 6, 2007, at The Chimneys in Big Canoe. The bride is the daughter of J. Kevin and Cathy D. Hooper of Gainesville. The groom is the son of John and Janet Cornelson of Gainesville.

The Rev. Paul Evans performed the ceremony.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s sister Amber Irizarry of Smyrna was matron of honor. Beth Rylee of Lula, a friend of the bride, was a bridesmaid. The groom’s niece Holly Cornelson of Manville, N.J., was the flower girl.

The groom’s friend Zach Landers of Conroe, Texas, was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brother Thomas Cornelson of Manville, and the groom’s friends Joey Kanclerz of Braselton and Matt Thom of St. Louis, Mo. The groom’s nephew, Matthew Cornelson of Manville was the junior groomsman.

The bride wore an antique gold bar pin with her great-grandmother’s monogram and pearl earrings given by the groom. She carried a monogrammed handkerchief given by her sister and a six pence given by her mother.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at a private home in Big Canoe on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception at The Chimney’s Center in Big Canoe following the ceremony. Kelli Wade, Amanda Hooper and Stephanie Cornelson were hostesses. George and Gina Houlditch were wedding directors.

Following a wedding trip to Savannah, the couple resides in North Georgia.
