Ashley and Jason Walters

Ashley Lane Cox and Jason Philip Walters were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 24, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of Clayton Lee Cox Sr. and Winter Lake Cox of Gainesville. The groom is the son of James Michael Richards and Dawn Hudgins Richards of Gainesville.

The Rev. Randall Popham performed the ceremony. Organist Della Ruth Johnson, violinist Heather Strachan, violist Edie Benson and cellist Mary Alice Swope presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her parents. The bride's sister Victoria Elizabeth Cox of Gainesville was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's sister Anneliese Rebekah Cox of Gainesville, the bride's cousin Heather Grace Barnes of Clinton, Miss., and the bride's friends Ashley McKinney Bates of Gainesville and Devon Kappes Stripling of Canton.

The groom's friend James Anderson Coleman of Gainesville was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's father, the groom's friend John Brinson Cotton of Gainesville, the bride's brother Clayton Lee Cox Jr. of Gainesville and the groom's friend Brenton Maxwell Shoemaker of Jacksonville, Fla.

Kristi Davis Wright was the wedding coordinator.

The bride wore her mother's pearl necklace and earrings, a pearl bracelet given to her by the groom and she carried her grandmother's amethyst brooch on her bouquet.

The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at First Baptist Church in Gainesville on the eve of the wedding.

The bride's parents gave a reception at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center in Gainesville following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to St. George Island, Fla., the couple reside in Gainesville.
