Miss Melissa Sue Bowen and Mr. Steven Michael Barber were united in marriage at 5 p.m. April 15, 2017, at The Wimbish House in Atlanta. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Bowen of Clermont. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Barber of Lake Hiawatha, N.J.
The bride’s brother the Rev. Charles Bowen performed the ceremony. Pianist Mr. Steve Jade presented a program of wedding music. Readings were recited by the bride’s friend Miss Mary Butler of Atlanta.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s friend Mrs. Dana Pirkle of Flowery Branch was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friends Miss Danielle Wrick of New Bedford, N.H., Miss Rebecca Reddick of Atlanta and Miss Robin Love of Atlanta, the bride’s niece Miss Rebecca Bowen of Clermont and the bride’s cousin Miss Lauren Raper of Alto.
The groom’s friend Mr. Henry Hamm of Hopatcong, N.J., was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brothers Mr. Keith Barber of New York, N.Y., and Mr. David Barber of Atlanta, the groom’s friends Mr. Luke Chapman of Charlotte, N.C., and Mr. Tyler Mayfield of Atlanta and the bride’s nephew Mr. Garrison Bowen of Clermont.
Mrs. Karin Holben of Atlanta was the wedding coordinator.
The bride carried a blue handkerchief that belonged to her paternal grandmother that was borrowed from her mother, a sixpence in her shoe given by her mother and father and a diamond necklace from the groom.
Mr. and Mrs. Barber gave a rehearsal dinner in Atlanta on the eve of the wedding.
A reception was held at The Wimbish House following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to Europe, the couple returned to reside in Atlanta.
