Another new restaurant is planned for the downtown Gainesville square.

ChopBLOCK Food and Spirits, a stadium-inspired sports bar, is taking over 110 Main Street, formerly The Jeweled Attic.

The building has been cleared and painting has begun. A sign has been posted in the window of the empty building advertising the future restaurant, but general manager Mike Mills did not want to comment on detailed plans for the space until the project is a little further along.

Following the sports bar theme, ChopBLOCK plans on having TVs throughout and popular stadium food items from across the country to serve guests.

The lower level of the restaurant will be outfitted with a bar and booths lining the wall. An elevator is in the works, too, allowing guests access to the second level of the restaurant, which should seat about 100.

The building dates back to 1900 was once inhabited by Scott’s Downtown, which was then named Scott’s on the Square. It has been posted on Gainesville’s online business inventory.
