1 tablespoon canola oil
1/4 whole onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons (additional) brown sugar
4 tablespoons distilled vinegar (or to taste)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1/3 cup molasses
4 tablespoons chipotle adobo sauce
Salt to taste
Heat canola oil in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add onion and garlic, and cook for five minutes, stirring, being careful not to burn them.
Reduce heat to low. Add all remaining ingredients and stir. Allow to simmer 10-20 minutes. Remove from heat and cool before serving.
