Special Olympians compete in horse arena

Lee Ann Mooney’s eyes get a little teary as she watches her 15-year-old daughter steady her horse before going into the ring Friday afternoon at the Special Olympics Georgia State Horse Show. This is the first year the show has been held at Chicopee Woods Agriculture Center in Gainesville and the first year the Forsyth County Special Olympics Equestrian Team competed in the event. More than 325 athletes with varying disabilities from all across the state participated in the show.
