Area Patsy Cline fans may fall to pieces Thursday.

The Arts Council is presenting a tribute performance, "A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline," at 7:30 p.m. at the Brenau University Hosch Theatre, 429 Academy St.

The show will feature Gainesville native Katie Deal as the late chanteuse.

"Katie has such a phenomenal voice," said Gladys Wyant, arts council executive director. "Some of us are surprised that she's not on Broadway."

Instead of taking up residence in the Big Apple, Deal is currently traveling with the tribute show, which stops in Gainesville this week for the Arts Council show.

This isn't the first time that the performance honoring Cline, who died at the age of 30 in a 1963 plane crash, has come to Hall County.

"Patsy Cline was one of those great crossover artists. She was considered a country singer, but she crossed over to pop and blues," Wyant said.

"The first time we had the show here, it appealed to so many folks. Once you have a show that people like, they will say, ‘When is it coming back?' Most times we can't do it, but this time we were fortunate enough to have the show return.

"We thought it was time to bring Katie back home."

Prior to the show, the council will play host to a small dinner, where Deal will make an appearance. Tickets are $30 per person and limited, so interested parties should call the council for more information.

Tickets for the tribute show are $28 for adults, $25 for seniors and $22 for students. They may be purchased online or by calling 770-534-2787.
