Fourth annual festival inspired by lavender

The Lavender Cottage & Garden pay tribute to the lavender plant Saturday in Sautee Nacoochee.

The Lavender Cottage & Garden will host the fourth annual Lavender Fest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, in Sautee Nacoochee. The free festival is at 53 Ga. 255 North in Sautee Nacoochee.

Festival attendees may spend the day discovering unique lavender products, creating lavender-inspired crafts, sampling culinary lavender treats and cutting their own fresh lavender bouquet from the garden. Featured arts and craft vendors include Cindy Lou’s, Dazzling Designs by Toni Busch, Evergreen, Joe Damera, MoonDoggies, MM’s Garden Party, Past Lives, folk artist Ronnie Williams, Tammy Carlyle, Richard Dennis, Darcie Turner and handspun yarn demonstration by Adonai’s Alpacas.

While lavender lovers will enjoy this festival, other festivalgoers may taste a fresh batch of pickles with The Phickle Chickle or gourmet fruit spreads by Unicoi Preserves. Visitors may also partake of lavender dry soda and lavender goat cheese or sample one of Jimmy’s Chicago-style hot dogs.

Live music will be provided by the dulcimer group Yonah Pickers, Kip Dockery Jazz Duo, Daniel Hellman and Mountain Jam.

Children will be entertained as Julianne Wilson paint their faces from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the garden. They may also visit with Adonai’s Alpacas.

Karen Loos, a certified aroma touch technique therapost, will enlighten visitors about the various uses of different essential oils and how to use them in the home or in beauty and culinary products. Attendees also may get a relaxing chair massage.
