11-month trip alters womans life and career

Gainesville resident Lindsey Farmer recently became the first Director of Development for Sarah’s Covenant Homes, an orphanage for disabled children of India. She volunteered at the home for several months, where she helped teach an orphan girl how to walk, and decided to become their stateside manager of donors.
Editor’s note: India’s government requires Sarah’s Covenant Homes to protect the names of its children. All of the kids have been given nicknames by the orphanage’s staff members. Eleven months in a foreign country and one major decision recently led to a new life —and job — for Gainesville resident Lindsey Farmer.
