Air Force Airman Brandon R. Roell has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Eric and Sandra Roell of Gainesville. Roell is a 2003 graduate of Norcross High School in Norcross.

Army Reserve Pvt. Crystal I. Johnson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Russell Ellis and sister of David Johnson, both of Cleveland. Johnson is a 2007 graduate of White County High School in Cleveland.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Stephen S. Bryant, son of Tammy and Rodney S. Bryant of Gainesville, and Navy Seaman Recruit Anthony J. Thompson, son of Patti L. Nix of Cleveland, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
