National Guardsman John Michael Kishimoto recently graduated from basic training, advanced individual training and airborne school at Fort Benning in Columbus.

Kishimoto is the son of Mike and Karen Kishimoto of Gainesville and he is a 2007 graduate of Johnson High School. He is a junior at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega.

Lt. Cmdr Select Robert Carroll is stationed at Portsmouth, Va., where he is an exercise support team leader and a graduate student at American Military University.

He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1991 after graduating from West Hall High School and served as a communications specialist from 1993-1999, assisting in narcotics and smuggling operations in the Caribbean, Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. He was accepted into officer candidate school in 1999, was later commissioned as an officer and earned degrees from Hawaii Pacific University and Excelsior College.

He is married with three children.
